Lahore: Interwood’s Chief Executive Officer, Omar Farooq, visited the Hailey College of Commerce, Punjab University—one of Pakistan’s leading institutions for commerce, finance, and marketing education—as a guest speaker. The visit featured an interactive session with graduating students of Finance, Accounting, and Marketing, focused on the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Green Marketing in driving sustainable business practices.
During the session, Omar Farooq emphasized that AI has moved far beyond being a tool for operational efficiency and is now a powerful enabler of smarter decision-making, resource optimization, and environmental responsibility. He shared insights on how the responsible use of AI can help organizations reduce material waste, optimize supply chains, lower energy consumption, and make data-led choices that positively impact both business performance and the environment.
He further highlighted the importance of shifting from traditional marketing approaches to green marketing strategies that align growth with sustainability. According to him, environmental responsibility should be deeply embedded within an organization’s core operations and brand values, rather than being treated as an add-on initiative.
Sharing real-world examples, Omar Farooq spoke about how Interwood is integrating AI-driven processes and eco-friendly practices across its operations—from intelligent production planning and efficient use of raw materials to sustainable design choices and responsible sourcing. He noted that these efforts not only help reduce environmental impact but also create long-term value for customers, stakeholders, and the broader community.
The visit also provided an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and collaboration, with Omar Farooq describing it as a wonderful meeting and exchange of ideas with Principal Prof. Dr. Zafar Ahmad and Professor Mariyam Mustafa Butt, reinforcing the importance of stronger industry–academia engagement in preparing future business leaders.
